din-daa-daa-remix-contest

My “Rambazamba” album will be released in a redone version in April as “Rambazamba Remixed” with remixes by Oliver $, Chrissy Murderbot, Bert On Beats, Big Dope P, Kry Wolf, El Dusty, Urbs and a handful other hot tickets.

To warm up for the “Rambazamba Remixed” release, Man Recordings started a remix contest today for which you can rework my version of “Din Daa Daa”, the seminal 1980s club tune by German drummer extraordinaire, George Kranz. The winning remix of the contest will be officially released on the “Rambazamba Remixed” release and will receive the “Rambazamba” double vinyl, CD and some Man Recordings extras .

The deadline for submissions is February 3rd 2012, that´s in two weeks from today.

Here´s the rules for the contest:

1. Listen to “Din Daa Daa” below.

2. Download the stems from here: http://tinyurl.com/7hgthjb

3. Once you completed your remix, drop it into the Man Recordings Soundcloud dropbox: http://soundcloud.com/manrecordings

4. The winner will be proclaimed on Feb 6th on www.manrecordings.com

5. The 2nd and 3rd winning remix will receive a “Rambazamba” double vinyl, CD and some Man Recordings extras.

Now you can do the Trommeltanz!

Our Berlin sister label, Chusma Records, is releasing today the “Kosmik Chankleja” EP by Colombian champeta dons Makina Del Karibe. The release features remixes by AJ Holmes & Hackney Empire, Hat n´Hoodie, SOS Moroka and myself. Being a big fan of the original tune, I made two remixes: A more uptempo, ghetto inspired version and a proper club remix of “Maki Man”. The club version you can download for one week for free from below. Spread the word!

REMIXES FOR JOE FLEISCH OUT NOW

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

Last year, my old Frankfurt buddy Joe Fleisch, who now lives in Tel Aviv, Israel, asked me to remix two tracks of his “Oi Amerike” EP, which was originally produced by Ori Kaplan from Balkan Beat Box. I gladly accepted the offer. In “Wat ken je mach sis Amerike” Joe re-made a classic Yiddish song from the early 20th century by the composer Sholem Seconda. The old-fashioned humor of a long-gone century complains about the young ladies, who dare to have babies, before even getting engaged, instead – as it was the custom before – first getting married and giving birth within a year. Here “in Amerike”, as a matter of fact a Jew gets rid of his beard and side-locks. In the end he looks like a Goi (as a Non-Jew is called in Yiddish), but – as the refrain explains it – “What can you mach, sis is Amerike” Now the EP has been released on the German Söhne Mannheims label. The bonus remix is for “Black But Sweet”, a remake of the old Trinidad tune by Wilmot Houdini from the earl 1930s
